Fund a Need 2018

Help Give a Hand Up for the Next Generation

Help us reach our goal of $12,000!

For many of us, the Center for Irish Music is a second home. The programs and people that keep this place humming make our lives so rich that we never want cost to be a barrier to handing down the tradition, and encouraging everyone with a love of Irish music to come and play along.

Thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to manage more than a decade of astonishing growth, giving a hand up to more than a thousand students through family discounts, scholarships and financial aid that make lessons, ensemble classes, and hard-to-find instruments accessible to students of all ages and abilities.

In 2018, we’re planning to pick up the tempo with fresh new classes and outreach programs, a fantastic new common repertoire, and a few long-awaited operational improvements that will give our community music school even more room to grow.

Contributions of any size will help make it happen--here’s how:

$10 puts a hard-to-find traditional instrument in the hands of a new student, through CIM’s affordable monthly rental program

$50 teaches young families how to foster a love of music in Celtic Cuties, Singing Sweeties and Tin Whistle Troupe, CIM’s affordable early childhood classes

$100 helps us host the Young Learners Session, a free drop-in class that teaches our youngest players how to be part of the tradition

$150 will provide a full scholarship to one of our fantastic young adult musicians to learn from the legendary Liz Carroll and Billy McComiskey, two master artists on their way to Minnesota for our special Harvest Home event in September

$300 covers the cost of recording, producing and posting one of the 22 new tunes CIM is about to introduce to our Common Repertoire, an online resource accessed by nearly 1000 people every year

$500 sends a fleadh-bound family on the CIM bus to St. Louis in May, ensuring that every player can be part of this powerful community learning experience

$750 makes it possible for CIM to answer the call from our Irish community, coordinating performances in school classrooms, coffee shops, and community gatherings like IMDA’s Day of the Dance and the Irish Fair of Minnesota

$1,000 will bring our community together for a fun, free series of Common Repertoire workshops this fall, sending CIM’s 22 instructors to learning sessions around the Twin Cities, with fresh new tunes our community can play together

$2,000 will send a cracking team of CIM instructors on their way to the Midwest Fleadh in May, supporting our largest-ever contingent of student players--nearly enough to fill a second bus

$5,000 covers the cost of implementing CIM’s smart new registration software, a time-saving system that will allow us to put less time into administration, and more into the music!
