Beginner Program (7-11 years)
A fun and intensive 3-day introduction to Irish music and culture from County Kerry!
With a focus on County Kerry, this year's beginner program is designed for newcomers to Irish music and for those who have been learning to play an instrument for 1-4 years. This hands-on workshop designed by fiddle player, dancer and educator, Danielle Enblom who recently graduated from a Masters in dance history from IT Tralee. The beginner program includes storytelling, traditional songs in Irish and English, crafts, a chance to experiment with new Irish instruments, and lots of new tunes. Please note there will be a performance for families and friends at 4:00pm on Sunday afternoon.

Irish Trad Immersion Camp (9-12 years)
A fun and intensive one-day program with Irish music friends.
Come spend a day with like-minded young musicians, who share a passion for Irish traditional music. If you already play some Irish music and are itching to expand your skills and make new musical friends, we invite you to spend the day with acclaimed CIM instructors for Irish Trad Immersion Camp, a condensed, introductory version of the Teen program for intermediate-level instrumentalists including a session, new tunes and some arranging with mixed instruments. Open to whistle, fiddle, flute, mandolin, banjo, guitar, harp and bodhrán players who know at least five tunes. Irish Trad Immersion Camp registrants are encouraged to stay for the Friday night Great Session Experience from 7-9pm. The Great Session Experience is an optional part of the program. Children will be supervised at the teen session (children welcome). We encourage families to come and join in the fun at the Great Session Experience. There will be a cash bar and refreshments available to the public, so invite all of your friends to hear the music!

Three days with internationally renowned traditional Irish musicians. New tunes, new techniques, new and deepened musical friendships!
This course is specifically designed for teens that already play Irish instruments at an intermediate to advanced level. Fiddlers, flute and tin whistle players, singers, guitarists, pipers, pianists, harpists, bodhrán players will all have the opportunity to learn from the visiting artists in small class sizes.
Intermediate and Advanced Teen Program registrants are encouraged to stay for the Friday night Great Session Experience (GSE) from 7-9pm, although the GSE is an optional part of the program. Teens will be supervised at the teen session. We encourage families to come and join in the fun at the Great Session Experience. There will be a cash bar and refreshments available to the public, so invite all of your friends!
Teen Irish Accompaniment Workshop, a special part of the MIM teen program
The Teen Irish Accompaniment Workshop is an integral part of the MIM teen program designed for youth who play chorded instruments such as guitar, bouzouki, piano, harp, and mandolin. Participants will explore how accompaniment fits in to the Irish tradition while laying the foundation for subtle, improvisational, and fun approaches to backing Irish tunes and songs. Students will learn various tune-type strumming patterns and rhythmic guidelines and basics of harmony applicable to Irish music.
Age: 12 to 19 yrs
Level: Intermediate to Advanced

The Minnesota Irish Weekend offers a selection of workshops, lectures, a demonstration and fascinating interviews with the visiting artists. There is something for everyone, musicians and non-musicians alike. Instrument-specific workshops with the visiting artists are available throughout the weekend on whistle, flute, fiddle, banjo, uilleann pipes, accordion, guitar, lilting and song. General workshops for all Irish instrumentalists, singers and dancers are also available this year.
