Adult Group Classes
Adult class offerings include instrument classes as well as song and cultural classes.
These classes offer a deeper dive into instrument-specific techniques and repertoire, and significant (celebrated and overlooked) figures in the Irish music tradition.
Most of our adult classes are offered online, and a few classes are available in person as well. These classes are a way for our private lesson instructors to share their specialties and unique interests with you!
Adult Ensembles
Join an adult ensemble at the Center for Irish Music! Our adult ensembles are fun, challenging and a great way to meet like-minded musicians who are based in the Twin Cities with the support and direction of our qualified instructors
Once you have reached a basic level of proficiency on your instrument, an ensemble can be a great way to take your music to the next level. If you can play 10 tunes or more at a reasonable speed with precision and great rhythm, you are ready to try ensemble playing! Talk to your instructor and CIM admin about which ensembles might be a good fit.
To learn more about the benefits of being in an ensemble, check out our Children and Youth ensembles page. Also, please note that CIM ensemble members are required to take private lessons with a CIM instructor. This policy exists to provide our ensemble students with the instrument-specific support they need to play Irish traditional music with great rhythm, drive, ornamentation. Private lessons also give our adult students access to an instructor who can help connect them to the larger Irish music community.
We look forward to meeting you!
